Who We Help

Picture

It's true that both men and women live in poverty, face discrimination and must overcome obstacles. But throughout history—in every country in the world—women and girls face additional obstacles and discrimination solely because of their gender.

Soroptimist means "best for women" and that's what all Soroptimist clubs strive to be an organization of women at their best helping other women to be their best. As a volunteer organization of volunteer oriented business and professional women, we feel uniquely qualified to help women and girls live their dreams.

Soroptimist clubs and members improve the status of women and girls. Our projects and programs aid women economically, and empower them to make positive changes in their lives and their communities.

Soroptimist International of Olympia - Steps in Opportunity Tech Award
Soroptimist International of Olympia created the Steps in Opportunity Tech Award in response
to a need in our Thurston County community. The importance of education, along with the rising costs associated with women achieving their goals were so some of the factors considered in the creation of this award to assist in paying for technology as they further their education.

This award includes, but is not limited to, female-identifying applicants who are in their final stages of completing or pursuing their high school diploma, diploma equivalency, or GED and are pursuing or planning to pursue a vocational certificate, technical certificate, or various undergraduate degrees like associates or bachelors.

Without supporting program sponsors like Cowlitz Indian Tribe - we would not be able to expand existing and create new programs to support the women and girls of Thurston County.  Thank you!
