​Since 1941, Soroptimist International of Olympia has taken an active role in our local community to make it a better place to live and work. The following are examples of our local and international services.

Educational & Continuation Awards

The Live Your Dream Awards are given to adult women who have overcome significant hardships and are now seeking degrees to better provide for their families or previous awardees continuing to strive towards their degree.  In the past 13 years, Olympia Soroptimists has awarded 19 local women the Live Your Dream education award while attending college. 11 women have gone on to receive the Continuation Education Award.

Tech Awards

The Steps In Opportunity Tech Award was created in response to a need in our Thurston County community. The importance of education along with the rising costs associated with women achieving their goals were factors considered in the creation of this award. This award is available to all female-identifying individuals who find themselves in need of financial assistance for a piece of technology to complete their education.​

Children in Foster Care

Annually Olympia Soroptmist members create Comfort Packs (back packs) to give to infants and teen girls as they are moved to foster homes. These packs include necessary hygiene items as well as socks and underwear. We work directly with the Washington State DCYF Foster Youth Program.

Hope Africa University

Olympia Soroptimists provide one annual scholarship to a woman earning her medical degree at Hope Africa University in Rwanda Africa.

We support "Expanding Your Horizons", a local science and math fair
that encourages girls to purse careers in STEM fields.
