​Soroptimist International of Olympia (SIO) is a vibrant, dynamic service organization for today’s women. We are committed to a world where women and girls have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential and live their dreams.
​We are part of an international volunteer organization for service and community volunteer minded women. Our local club is where we enjoy fellowship and work together to help improve our community and to improve the lives of women and girls in the greater Olympia, Washington community and throughout the world.
Why Women & Girls? >
​Soroptimist International was founded in 1921, in Oakland California. On that date, 80 working women representing such professions as medicine, law, laboratory, technology, printing and haberdashery, joined together to “foster the ideal of service.”

From that small beginning, the organization has grown to some 70,000 members in over 120 countries of the world. Service remains the heart of our organization.

Goals

Maintain high ethical standards in business and professional life.

Strive for human rights for all people and, in particular, to advance the status of women.

Develop a spirit of friendship and unity among Soroptimists of all countries.

Develop interest in community, national and international affairs.

Contribute to international understanding and universal friendship.
